Cottages on High Street c1963
This photograph is lodged with the record office in Leicester. The map handwritten on the back indicates that the cottages were located on the west side of the High Street, towards the White Hart and were demolished in or about 1963.
The cottages were on the High Street between The White Hart & The Bulls Head. They were built of Swithland stone with a Swithland slate roof. They were demolished along with many other stone cottages that lined the High Street in anticipation of road widening which ultimately did not take place.
Sue Sharpe tells us that the cottage next to the White Hart was occupied by Mr and Mrs Wilf Lucas.
