US Paratroopers on Company Street at Camp Quorn 1944

Three paratroopers of H Co 505 PIR pose on the company street at Camp Quorn in England's Mid-lands, in May 1944 several weeks before D-Day.
Left to right:

John E Atchley of Fayetteville, Tennessee was awarded the DSC for action at one of H Company's roadblocks in Ste Mere Eglise on June 7th, 1944. John was to be killed in action later during the Battle of the Bulge on January 3, 1945 shortly after he had bandaged Les Cruise's wounds on the morning of that day.

Nicholas J DePalma joined H Company in March 1944 and participated in the Normandy and Holland campaigns. Nicholas hailed from New Jersey.

Joseph J Comer was one of the early members of H Co505 and participated in all four combat jumps of the 505 PIR surviving the war and returning to his home area of Virginia.
