Quorndon Sauce
This Quorndon Sauce label is designed to be hung round the neck of a bottle. It is made of ivory with a metal (possibly silver) chain, dating from the Georgian or early Victorian period. It is likely that Quorndon Sauce was a thin sauce similar to Worcester Sauce or Anchovy Sauce, but nobody knows for certain.
Vinegar, cayenne and Worcester sauces are self explanatory and references can be found to Pratt’s Club Sauce and Harvey’s Sauce, but the origins or ingredients of Quorndon Sauce are lost in the mists of time.
