Quorn Charities Darts - Beardsley new gift. 1963
Loughborough Monitor - 25th January 1963
The officials of the Quorn Charities Darts League staged a memorable evening on Friday at the White Horse Inn when, in front of a huge audience, the League president, Mr W J Bent Beardsley, presented the John Beardsley rose bowl to the League.
The bowl will be presented annually to the league player registering the most "tons" in a season. It was received on behalf of the League by its chairman, Mr S Waterfield. Another highlight of the evening was the special challenge match held between a League representative team and a team of "Leicester Aces" invited by ever-popular Len Gray.
Amidst considerable excitement, the Leicester boys came unstuck and lost 2-1. The event was organised by Mr Vic Orton, with first class assistance from Len Gray.
