Stafford Orchard, Quorn, 1963
Who remembers this play equipment on Stafford Orchard (Quorn’s park) in the 1960s? When was it put in? When was it taken down? Has anyone got a good photograph of the ‘helter-skelter’ slide that replaced the older higher straight slide?
First photograph:
The lady standing on the right is Mrs Hilda James
(nee Gartshore). The children are (from left to right) Susan Crow, Elizabeth Crow (swinging highest!), Valerie James, Pauline James.
The lady with the twin pram at the back is Mrs Crow and the twin babies are Paula and Marie Crow. The Crows lived in a Police house on Unitt Road. Mr Crow was in the force.
Second photograph - Back to front: Standing up at the back is Valerie James. The next girl (dark hair) is Hazel Bradshaw, then Susan Crow, then Pauline Smith (nee James). Standing at the front is Michael Bradshaw.
Third photograph: The little girl on the rocking horse is Pauline Smith (nee James) and her father George Arthur James (known as Arthur).
