The back of Brook House, Quorn
These rare pictures are taken at the back of Brook House in the 1920s. Brook House stood on the site where Hall Leys is today, (near Quorn Cross). It was originally a large, prestigious house, but sadly neglected in the 20th century. It was used for Belgian refugees in WW1 and eventually split into flats and used for local families, until it was demolished in 1963.
The first picture is taken where Brook House came out onto Leicester Road. Relating it to the geography today, it would be looking out from the entrance to Hall Leys, over to the houses on Weavers Close.
The second picture is at the back of the house and one of the girls is Florence Causton (nee Giles), who used to live there.
