Station Road, Quorn, late 1930s

This photograph looking down Station Road from Quorn Cross is thought to have been taken in the late 1930s. The thatched building on the left has the shop name ‘W A Turland’ above the door. There is an entry in Kelly’s Directory for 1941, for ‘Alfred Turland, Butcher, Station Road' and the electoral roll for 1953 shows William Alfred and Mabel Turland living at 2 Station Road.

It is interesting that the public obviously felt that there was no danger in walking in the road!
