Blacksmith’s Arms, Quorn
This photograph was taken from a Christmas card sent by Harold & Pat Cox, the landlords of the Blacksmith’s Arms. It is thought to be from the early 1980s.
The card was sent to Brian Freeman who is featured on the photograph walking past the pub. Brian lived all his life at 69 Meeting Street with his father Thomas Freeman.
Rachel Anderson (nee Boaler) remembers Harold and Pat well, having worked for them as a barmaid in her university holidays, starting in 1981. She thinks they hadn't been there long at that time, and that they stayed at the pub for about 12 years. She remembers them both as being huge fun to work for, and recalls with affection Harold's favourite refrain at last orders: "Time, gentlemen, I have to get the bar staff to bed!"
