Tim Firr - Quorn Huntsman

Tom Firr was known as the greatest huntsman in England. He was born on 12th April 1841 and was huntsman to the Quorn Hunt for 27 years from 1872 to 1899, when a particularly severe accident cut his career short. He died on 16th Dec 1902 and is buried in Quorn Churchyard.

This engraving was taken from Baily's Magazine of Sports and Pastimes in 1878. Tom Firr would have been in his mid to late thirties.

He was also a director of Quorn Gas Works and a member of Barrow Poor Law Union Board of Guardians.
