Quorn’s Oldest Soldier - “Warrior” Burton

Mr Joseph Burton (“Warrior Burton”), who was 86 last week, is Quorn’s oldest soldier. He joined the 1st Leicesters in April 1885, winning the Burma Medal in 1887-89 also the 1901-2 Medals in the South African War.
In the early days of the Kaiser War, he joined the Royal Defence Corps, and was finally discharged in December, 1914.
