Mourning/memorial card - Joseph Gamble 1882 to 1939
Mourning/memorial cards were particularly popular in Victorian times and continued well into the 20th century. They were a way of informing people about a death or marking it afterwards.
Joseph Gamble was the wife of Olive Gamble and son of William and Hannah Gamble. In 1911 Joseph, Olive and their three year old daughter Muriel were living on Farnham Street, just a few doors away from Joseph's widowed mother and several of his brothers, sisters and other relations. The card tells us that when Joseph died, him and Olive were living on Cradock Drive.
