Photographic envelope from Green's chemist, Quorn

Green's chemist was situated where James Alvey the hairdresser is today (2012), at 20 High Street - although this envelope dates from 1924 when it was 18 High Street. It would appear from the wording on this postcard sized packet, that Mr Green had not long taken over the business from Mr Lewis (Benjamin Raymond Lewis according to Kelly's Directory for 1916).

The envelope belonged to Emily Steer (later Emily Holmes), whose husband William Steer died in the war, (see Artefact 2282). It would appear that she paid one shilling for six prints from an existing single negative.
