Finette Webster, the bakers wife, learning to ride a bicycle!
Whilst this photograph is rather faded, it is especially interesting as it is very informal. It was taken between 1905 and 1910, which was a time when photographs tended to be far more posed than today.
The picture is taken outside Websters the bakers on High Street in Quorn. These cottages were at the end of The Banks. The house on the far right is now number 25 (it used to be a newsagent), and Websters shop and home is on the left of the alleyway, and is now number 29. The cottages on the far left have been demolished.
The scene shows Finette Webster, the baker's wife, being taught to ride a bicycle by her daughters.
