The Dower House, Station Road - then and now
The Dower House, off Station Road was once the Dower House for the Farnham family. During the 20th century it was used as halls of residence for Loughborough College of Education. During the 1960s the wing on the left was demolished when the house ceased to be used for student accommodation.
This view shows the Victorian granite extension, which was built on to the older part of the Dower House, and was known as 'The Elms'. The building is now two houses - The Victorian extension is number 6, and the older part, which can just be seen on the left of the newer picture, is number 5.
