Rev Robert Stammers

The Reverend Robert Stammers MA was the Vicar of Quorn for 56 years from 1832 to 1888. Technically, up until 1868 he was a Curate, as up until then Quorn came under the mother Church of Barrow. However in 1868 it became an ecclesiastical parish in its own right.

Robert Stammers was born in 1802 in Suffolk and died on 7th May 1888 in Quorn. He married Sarah Dalton in 1828 in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. They had at least eight children - Robert Theodore Farringdon, Edward Wilson, Mary Ann, Edward Newton, Mary Eliza, Joseph, Rowland Dalton (died as a baby) and Rowland Dalton. Two of them died as infants and four as teenagers.
