Friends of Markfield - 1968

23rd August 1968 – Loughborough Echo

The picture includes: Mrs R Allen, Mrs L Bonshor, Mrs L Commons, Mr E Taylor, Mr Bremner, Matron, Mr F Prevost (group treasurer), Assistant Matron, Mrs A Bollard, Miss D Harris, Mr Kemp, Mrs M Bradshaw, Mr B Bradshaw, Mr J Boyer, Mr H Lacy (group chairman), and Mr Pitts (hospital secretary)

On Thursday of last week, members of the committee of the Quorn group of Friends of Markfield went to Markfield Hospital and handed over 13 tables and 20 chairs to be used in the rest rooms of the patients.

Throughout the year the committee work hard for the good of the cause. The success of their efforts depends on the many helpers and friends who generously support them at the various efforts of the committee. The cost of the tables and chairs was nearly £100. At Christmas every patient receives a present from the Quorn group and also at Easter. The Quorn group has been operating for 16 years and the total raised by them is now over £4,000. A great effort for a small village.
