Quorn sergeant killed - 1917

Loughborough Herald - 17th May 1917

Information had been received that Sergt Albert H Burton, of the Leicesters, was killed in action on April 27th. The news was conveyed to the parents at Quorn in a letter from officers of the company, who express their high appreciation of the deceased's character and soldierly bearing. It is stated that he had been recommended for a commission.

He enlisted in February 1915, and had been in France nearly two years. He was formerly employed at Messrs Wright's Mills. Two brothers have also served in the forces, and their father served nearly 19 years with the colours and in the reserve, being now in the Royal Defence Corps.
