Quorn boy helps prisoners of war - 1941

Punch and Judy show
The appearance of a small boy carrying a notice board bearing the words “Punch and Judy Show at 8 Farnham-street, Quorn, at 6 o’clock”, and parading the environs of Farnham-street one day last week, caused a general trek to that cul-de-sac by the youth of the immediate neighbourhood.
It soon appeared that Stanley Brewin, the twelve-years-old son Mr and Mrs Fred Brewin, had conceived the idea of raising the sum of 10/- for a parcel to the prisoners of war. He proceeded to make a booth for Punch and Judy in his father’s workshop, he also made his figures (except the monkey, which had to be bought) and composed, extempore, his own monologue.
The small shed was crowded with children. After several performances, Stanley has raised the sum aimed at, and a little over, so the fund will benefit from a little suspected source. Well done, Stanley!
