Tommy Allen 1911 to 1996

Tommy Allen was born in 1911 and lived in Quorn all his life. He followed his father by running a milk round, and eventually he and his wife Sarah, took over the family shop at 46 Station Road where he had been born. The shop sold sweets, cigarettes and eggs. Tommy died in 1996, aged 85.

In 1985 Tommy was interviewed by Colin Hyde from the University of Leicester as part of the East Midlands Oral History Archive project. The interview gives a fascinating insight into many aspects of Quorn life.
