Interesting Presentation by Quorn Hunt - 1856

The Era - 6th April 1856

An interesting ceremony took place at Quorndon last week. The late Sir Richard Sutton, Bart, some short time before his death, decided to present to Thomas Cradock, Esq., some enduring token of his approbation of the services which that gentleman had from time to time rendered to the Quorn Hunt. Unfortunately, Sir Richard did not live to carry out his warm hearted project, and, though delayed, it was not forgotten by the lamented baronet's family. The deceased baronet's family and a few friends dined with Mr Cradock last week, and the presentation afterwards took place.

Mr J Tidd Pratt, Sir Richard's principal executor, performing the interesting ceremony. The testimonial consisted of an elegant silver candelabrum, with six branches, and a flower vase in the centre. Mr Cradock's crest and an appropriate inscription are engraved on the pedestal; and at equal distances around the base are frosted silver figures of a fox and cub, a fox breaking cover and a fox-hound in full cry. The whole was manufactured by Messrs Smith and Nicholson, Duke-street, London.
