Loughborough Echo - 5th August 1977

Quorn Silver Jubilee Celebrations Committee have reported a surplus of about 400 on their activities. Preliminary accounts show an income from donations and events of 1,688.27. Major items of expenditure were fireworks (181.44), catering (208.67) and prizes for fancy dress competitions and side shows (446.08).

A public meeting will be held on August 17 to discuss the disposal of the surplus. The committee are awarding a certificate to each individual, family or organisation who actively participated in the celebrations. The first of these certificates were distributed by the Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Col. R A St G Martin, at a social evening at Rawlins Community College on Friday.

Col. Martin also met Quorn's Jubilee baby, Susan Tamsin Clegg, who was born on Jubilee Sunday, 5th June. Susan is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Brian Clegg of 31 Toller Road.
